The benefits of team interaction.

Posted in Work at 3:07 am by JohnB

We had our EMEA team meeting today (Friday 7th December) and it brought home to me the things which I sometimes miss as a ‘work from home’ remote consultant. The discussions which took place, both around the conference table and over beers and then dinner later, were invaluable. Being able to interact, on a personal level, with not only the team I work with on a day-to-day basis but with Scott Tucker and Steve Winter as our executives, has provided me with a renewed sense of value and belonging. Sometimes I think that we underestimate the ‘human touch’ in our work days. And I have to admit to missing the passing conversations and off-the-cuff discussions I had with my colleagues in former places of work. IM, email and even iChat and Skype can only go far to replacing this personal interaction and for me I think that it’s not far enough.

I think that I’ll endevour to spend more time with the guys in the future when project meetings etc permit. It’s well worth it!
